[Gastropoda] The underside of a radula tooth on which the cusp, or dent of the tooth is placed (see also: radula); there can be: one, two, three, or more cusps on one basal plate; the tooth is than named: unicuspoid, bicuspoid, tricuspoid or multicuspoid.
