Photoreceptors found in certain hydromedusae. They are commonest in anthomedusae, and occur on the basal bulbs of the marginal tentacles.
They may be on the outer side of a tentacle bulb (abaxial) or on the inner side (adaxial); or, in Tiaropsis, under the marginal vesicle.
