[Cnidaria] A medusa of the class Scyphomedusae which comprises mainly the majority of large medusae. They and the class Stauromedusae or stalked jellies (small, stalked, mobile but sedentary forms) comprise the Superclass Scyphozoa. See also Medusozoa.
