Description
Umbrella bell-shaped, with a well developed wide, apical projection [Leuckartiara nobilis ]. Jelly thin, velum narrow. The four radial canals broad and ribbon-like, with short lateral diverticula; interradial centripetal canals absent.
Gastric peduncle absent, the large manubrium is attached to the radial canals by well-developed mesenteries. Manubrium more than half as long as the bell cavity; mesenteries along half the length of the manubrium. Mouth with complexly folded lips.
Gonads interradial, covering whole wall of manubrium, horseshoe shaped with horizontal folds directed towards interradii, the diverging folds connected by an interradial, transverse bridge; interradial pits absent.
About 40 tentacles of different size with elongated, laterally compressed basal bulbs, well spaced; abaxial spurs faintly developed, no club-shaped marginal rudiments. Ocelli dark red.

Umbrella up to 27 mm high and 20 mm wide.
Colour
[L.nobilis-habitus ] Gonads (manubrium) dark red, radial canals (?), ring canal and marginal tentacle bases bright yellow.
Ecology
Medusae recorded from May-July.
