Family characters
Body saccular, without an internal shell. Head and mantle fused dorsally, with only a restricted ventral mantle aperture. Eight arms only, bearing sessile suckers without chitinous teeth. Adult benthic; larvae and juveniles may be pelagic, depending on the species.
