Description
Larva of about 1 mm length, living in a larval tube that is constructed of rhomboidal secreted scales. Larva living pelagically before settlement.

Size
Length of larval tube ca. 1.8 mm.

Depth range
The adult is found from sublittoral to 800 m; larva planktonic.

Distribution in the North Sea
All North Sea, Skagerrak, Kattegat; also Waddenzee, W Baltic.

World distribution
N Pacific, NE Atlantic including Mediterranean.
