Description
Male body more than three times the width; female body 2.5 longer than wide. Antennula with the first article extending forwards, the second article in a right angle to the first. First segment of the antennular flagellum 3.5 times longer than the remaining four together; antennal flagellum of male with 42 and of female with 30 segments. Antennal peduncle (a2) with four distinct articles. Maxillipede without coupling hooks on the inner border. Pleon somite 5 not markedly reduced, with the lateral borders contributing to the body outline. Coxal plates of pereion somites 2 and 3 with sharp posterior angles, of 4-7 with pro angles.
Pleopod 1 with both rami thinly chitinised and fringed with setae.
Pleotelson with a dorso-median oval depression; posterior margin half as long as the width of the pleotelson, margin almost straight, with postero-lateral teeth. Uropods slightly longer than the pleotelson.
The peduncle of the uropod isd not markedly roduced backwards alongside the inner border of the endopod; the articulation between the peduncle and the endopod is short.

Length of male 5-7 mm, female 7-8.5 mm.

Colour
Body with dark spots.

Depth range
0-200 m.

Distribution in the North Sea
Southern and possibly also northern North Sea.

World distribution
NE Atlantic Ocean.
