Sarsia lovenii

Description
The species is absent from the plankton as a meduse. The medusa (medusoids) is fully developed but remain attached to the polyp as gonophores.
Medusoids 0.8-1.0 mm long, longer than broad, attached by thick peduncle, jelly thin.
Four radial canals, a ring canal and four rudimentary bulbs are present, bulbs without ocelli or tentacles.
Manubrium slightly longer than bell cavity. Gonads voluminous, continuous, surrounding manubrium and nearly filling bell cavity.

Depth range
The hydroid occurs from 0-200m.
