Euphilomedes interpuncta

Description
Shell almost circular to elongate ovoid, surface bare of hairs and without hollows. Higher and with better developed rostrum and incisure in males than in females. Posterior margin with a ventrally pointing dorsal process and a dorsally pointing ventral process. The frontal organ is long, slender and pointed. Furcal margin with long hairs between the claws; claws 1, 2, 4 and 6 are main claws (Poulsen, 1969).
Species surrounded by taxonomic confusion (Kornicker, 1974).

Size
Female 1.24-1.27 mm, male 1.27 mm carapace length.

Depth range
Shallow water species.

Distribution in the North Sea
Northern North Sea (Klie, 1944a)

World distribution
E Atlantic 30-65°N (Poulsen, 1969). This or closely related species have been recorded from Plymouth Sound, Loch Long, and the Isle of Cumbrae as well as from the Mediterranean.
