Description
Pereion segments 1-4 much wider than pleon segments 1-3.
Pleopods 1-3 with long and oval merus and propodus, without dactylus.
Cephalon deeply sunken in first pereion segment, at the basis with two dorsal protuberances, frontal margin extended. Antenna about four times longer than the body.
Perion segments concave anteriorly and laterally oval-shaped thickened; small coxae
Pleon segments 1-3 together about half as long as pleon and cephalon together; segments 2 and 3 with two median ptrotuberances.
Pereiopods 3-4 much longer than the whole body, pereiopode 1-2 very short.
Pleotelson elongate and oval, with small baso-median protuberance; lateral margins smooth. Uropods half as long as pleotelson.
Uropods uniramous.
Colour
Bright red-brown.
Size
Up to 18 mm.
Depth range
Down to 1000 m.
Distribution in the North Sea
Northern North Sea, Skagerrak.
World distribution
N Atlantic and Arctic Oceans, Faeroer, Norwegian coast.
