Description
Male body three times longer than wide. Antennula (a1) with the first article extending forwards, the second article in a right angle to the first. Antennular flagellum 5-segmented, in male the first segment is somewhat shorter, and in female the first is somewhat longer than the remaining four together. Antennal peduncle (a2) with four distinct articles. Male antennal flagellum with about 29 segments, reaching beyond the mid- pleotelson.
Maxillipede without coupling hooks on the inner border. Coxal plates 2-4 with no posterior angles, plate 5 with a little, plate 6 with strongly and plate 7 rather strongly pointed posterior angle.
Pereion somites 1-6 dorsally with transverse striae.
Merus (fourth article) of pereiopod 7 with one or two spines, the carpus (fifth article) with one spine.
Pleon somite 5 not markedly reduced, with the lateral borders contributing to the body outline. Pleopod 1 with both rami thinly chitinised and fringed with setae.
Pleotelson with a dorso-median transverse depression. Posterior margin of pleotelson with seven median teeth and little spines laterally. Length of posterior margin of pleotelson 1/3 of anterior margin. Uropods almost reaching the posterior margin of the pleotelson. The peduncle of the uropod is not markedly reduced backwards alongside the inner border of the endopod; the articulation between the peduncle and the endopod is short.

Distribution in the North Sea
Southern and possibly also northern Norh Sea.

World distribution
E Atlantic Ocean from Marocco to Shetland.
