Oikopleura labradoriensis

Description
Medium sized appendicularian. The trunk is elongated. Tail with a long series of sub-chordal cells in the distal third of the tail, near the tip. The left lobe of the stomach is trapezoid. The buccal glands are rather large and oval in shape. Posteriorly in the trunk are a single ovary and two paired testes.

Body length 1.4-2.4 mm (up to 2.6 mm).

Distribution in the North Sea
This cold water species is rare in the southern North Sea but occurs regularly in the northern North Sea and Skagerrak, entering from the Norwegian Sea.

World distribution
The Arctic, northern North Atlantic and northern North Pacific Oceans.
