Description
Umbrella bell-shaped, with thickened apex, though not projecting, walls thin [E.brownei-medusa ]; exumbrella without nematocyst tracks. With four radial canals and ring canal. Four very thin, equally developed, solid perradial tentacles, nematocysts along entire tentacle surface and in terminal swellings. Marginal tentacle bulbs small, without ocelli, but with blackish pigment granules. Manubrium short, cylindrical, on a well-developed, conical gastric peduncle. Mouth quadrangular, with four inconspicuous lips, each containing each a group of about 100 nematocysts. Gonads encircling manubrium; asexual reproduction by medusa buds on the sides of the manubrium.

Umbrella 1 mm high and wide.
Colour
Marginal tentacle bulbs with blackish pigment granules, manubrium blackish brown, and terminal tentacle knobs brownish.

Meropelagic; neritic.

North Sea, Kattegat.

North Atlantic Ocean, including Mediterranean; W South Atlantic Ocean, Indo-Pacific.
