Larva: a full description is not available.
The larval body is strongly dorso-ventrally flattened, not at all showing resemblance with the adult; colourless, transparent, except for the eyes. Longevity of larva is about 5-6 months.
The adult not pelagic and not described here.

Shallow.

Distribution in the North Sea
North Sea (Ingle 1992).

World distribution
Eastern Atlantic from the British Isles to Azores, including the Mediterranean.

Remark
The phyllosoma larva is unmistakable.
